چکیده

Today’s modern vehicles contain a complex symbiosis of intelligent electronic systems and integrated mechanical structures. In-vehicle networks provide an efficient method of communication between the various electronic components in an automobile. Invehicle communication contains a very complex structure because safety is a high priority. The communication protocols discussed in this paper are Controller Area Network (CAN), FlexRay, and Local Interconnect Network (LIN). CAN is popular for medium speed applications, FlexRay is used in high speed applications, and LIN is mostly used in low speed applications .

Third-order Decentralized Safe Consensus Protocol for Inter-connected Heterogeneous Vehicular Platoons

In this paper, the stability analysis and control design of heterogeneous traffic flow is considered. It is assumed that the traffic flow consists of infinite number of cooperative non-identical vehicular platoons. Two different networks are investigated in stability analysis of heterogeneous traffic flow: 1) inter-platoon network which deals with the communication topology of lead vehicles and...

PhD Forum: Routing Protocol and Performance Modeling in Delay Tolerant Vehicular Networks

Development of networking protocols is essential for an emerging class of applications described as vehicular ad hoc networks (VANETs). The scope and requirements of applications vary significantly, and existing techniques do not apply. The nature of data exchange varies in time and space and thus, the protocols need to accommodate and adapt to the requirements. Furthermore, the dynamics of the...

Impact of the radio channel modelling on the performance of VANET communication protocols

The expected traffic safety and efficiency benefits that can be achieved through the development and deployment of vehicular ad-hoc networks has attracted a significant interest from the networking research community that is currently working on novel vehicular communication protocols. The time-critical nature of vehicular applications and their reliability constraints require a careful protoco...

Hybrid vehicular communications based on V2V-V2I protocol switching

In this paper, a hybrid communication paradigm for vehicular networking is presented in which connectivity is provided by both existing network infrastructure (e.g., wireless network access points) through a vehicle-to-infrastructure protocol and traditional vehicle-to-vehicle networking. Preexisting infrastructure can provide seamless connectivity, especially when vehicles are sparse or travel...

Secure protocols for data propagation and group communication in vehicular networks

Vehicular networks are organized with high-mobility vehicles, which are a challenge to key agreement and secured communication among vehicles; hence, efficient cryptography schemes for lightweight ciphers are essential. Many security schemes for vehicular networks particularly take the secure propagation of traffic-related information into account. Group communication is desirable in vehicular ...

A Multi-hop MAC Forwarding Protocol for Inter-vehicular Communication

Conventional topology-based routing protocols such as AODV, DSR and ZRP are not suitable for inter-vehicular communication, where the duration of communication lasts extremely shortly. This paper presents a new intervehicular communication protocol called the Multi-hop MAC Forwarding Protocol (MMFP). The MMFP avoids explicit path setup in order to reduce the control overhead associated with it,...
